Wallet Migration & Seed Storage Guide

Practical 2025 checklist + printable seed card (executor-friendly)

Why You Should Migrate Old Wallets

Some older wallets used weak random number generators or poor encryption. Expert attackers can predict these older seed phrases. Moving to a modern wallet protects you with BIP‑39/BIP‑44 standards and stronger entropy.

Wallet Migration Checklist

  1. Create a new wallet (Trust Wallet, MetaMask, Phantom, Tangem, Ledger/Trezor).
  2. Write down the new 12/24‑word seed on paper or metal. No photos, no cloud.
  3. Do a small test transfer to the new wallet.
  4. Move all funds once confirmed.
  5. Verify balances and tokens have arrived.
  6. Delete the old wallet app/files.
  7. Store the new seed offline where executors can access.

Recommended Secure Wallets (2025)

Trust Wallet
Multi‑chain, easy mobile use.
Phantom
Best for Solana users.
MetaMask
Ethereum + EVM networks.
Ledger / Trezor / Tangem
Hardware security for larger holdings.
Unstoppable Wallet
Privacy‑focused, open‑source.

What to Avoid

  • Old versions of Blockchain.com, Multibit, early web‑generated keys (e.g., MyEtherWallet pre‑2018).
  • Jaxx Liberty and discontinued wallets.
  • Paper wallets or “brain wallets”.
  • Any wallet that doesn’t use a 12/24‑word BIP‑39 seed.

Never type or store your seed phrase on any website, email, cloud, or phone gallery.

Executor Notes

Keep this page printed in your executor folder. Do not write any seed words on the website. Use the printable seed card and store it securely offline.
